Developing Leadership

Whilst every individual, every role in a team or company is a vital part of the living system and requires attention and nurturing, we believe that leadership is a crucial ingredient and needs special attention.

"If you don't lead – others can't follow!"

Leadership is a key factor at every level of any organisation. It is not sufficient to have a powerful, influential, visionary leader at the top of the organisation, such people are essential at departmental and team level as well. A different style of leadership perhaps, but leadership nonetheless.

For ongoing organisational effectiveness people with leadership qualities need early identification, developing, nurturing and continuously assessing as to whether they are right to move on to the next more challenging position and what that position might be. Leadership succession is a vital organisational survival factor.

Transition Partners have been involved in this whole identification, assessment and development cycle for the past 15 years.

Our Approaches to Leadership development include:-

  • Each programme is bespoke and focuses on the critical competencies and underpinning value set peculiar to your own company.

  • Developing leadership and enhancing leadership bench strength in any organisation should be an integral part of the overall organisation strategy and, to be effective, should be fully understood,endorsed and supported by senior management.

  • Leadership needs to be developed in the context of the organisation, address the key issues of that particular industry and be realistic about real work situations. Different styles and processes are effective in different industries; it is not a “one size fits all” commodity.

  • We'll work within your organisation to gather data and assess what the issues are and design a development process around the real situation, and the real skills and behaviours needed to succeed.

  • We are quite happy to work at any level in the organisation from senior, board level development programmes through to team leadership development.

  • We have experience of leadership development in a variety of key industries The Oil Industry (offshore and onshore) Hotel Management, Building consultancy, the Transport Industry and the financial sectors, both banking and the large financial services industry.

  • The challenges leaders face may vary, the need for good leadership principles and skills does not.

Suffice to say that whilst each programme will be different, we do favour, where possible, a modular process, short input or workshop sessions, delivered over time and linked with Action Learning, in order to embed the learning and increase the opportunity of real and lasting behaviour change.
